Blockchain-based Decentralized Exchanges

PoW, introduced by Nakamoto, constitutes an elegant solution to the problem of building a public ledger over the internet. Its simplicity is the main factor for this elegance. However, this simplicity is paid by an enormous energy consumption. The blockchain community is addressing this problem by trying to substitute this PoW mechanism for a more efficient mechanism. PoET [1], [2], proof of elapsed time, is one of the most prominent candidates.

This thesis consists on a detailed study of PoET, via mathematical rigorous proofs, or via simulations.
